This is a study of treatment options and issues in prostate cancer. The book explores the indications and results of radical prostatectomy in locally advanced cancer, with special reference to enhancing the efficacy of this technique. This then leads to a discussion of the problem of complications arising from this surgery, such as urinary incontinence, and treatment using an artificial urinary sphincter. The book also examines the use of leuprorelin in a three-month depot, comparing the results of a three-month formulation with the more common one-month therapy. The problem of targeting men at risk of developing prostate cancer is discussed, presenting an overview on hereditary and familial prostate cancer.
